Technologies On Demand

Many are good at technology, and many are not. Still, during the lockdown, one thing becomes clear, and it is the usefulness of the internet. It is a good medium for everything online, be it education, knowledge, entertainment, purchase of items and payments. And the list goes on and on.

Along with the internet, a network is required. The internet alone will not do the work. And together they are and will achieve great wonders in every walk of human life.

Below are some technologies which are drawing more and more techno-enthusiasts. They require the internet, networking, coding and much more. But what are they? We will check them below, but very briefly…

Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem under which unique identifiers (UIDs) are attached to people, animals, various objects – which can be mechanical and digital machines, and interrelated computer devices.

This UIDs are various types of chip-sets which transfer required data over a network automatically, either continuously or at a pre-defined time. Under IoT, typical chip-sets can be placed inside a person during heart implant to monitor heartbeat, inside an animal to know its location, in an automobile as sensors to alert driver on certain occasions.

These chips/sensors are assigned an Internet Protocol address and, they transfer data over a network. These data are then analysed, and the conclusions are drawn.

In short, they are embedded systems which make a device, big or small, smart by collecting and sending data over a network to work-upon.

Before the term Internet of Things was thought upon, earlier, for the same ecosystem, another word was used, named convergence.

Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence

Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) almost go hand in hand. ML is a form of AI that gives a system the ability to learn and improve automatically, after analysing the collected data.

The actual purpose of ML is to develop programs or algorithms which systems can use to access or collect data, analyse them (look for patterns) and learn through them, automatically. This analysis makes the system take better decisions or can adjust its actions.

So, ML enables a system to learn from data analysis and not through explicit programming, and that system is called AI-enabled system. However, ML is not a simple process, and it takes a lot of efforts to study them.

Cloud Computing

Most of us are already using Cloud Computing for various purpose in our day to day life, and that too for years. But fewer people know. Examples are social networking, online banking, etc. Even online sellers like Flipkart, Amazon, etc. are using it.

The fact is, anything that requires the internet to access is using cloud services.

Cloud computing can be said as – various types of online services, offered to clients using different types of hardware and software (systems) that works together.

These systems are robust servers in which all the data are stored and recovered as per requirements.

With cloud computing, any user can access files which the user has saved in the server using applications from any internet-enabled device, like the smartphone.

A simple example can be accessing email. Users emails are kept in a server system somewhere in the world and can be downloaded and seen, using any internet-enabled device.

Cyber Security

Cyber-security or information technology security is the practice for defending servers, computers, networks, programs, electronic devices and systems, and all types of data from malicious digital attacks.

Conclusion

To get mastery on the above fields, one should have a though grasp of coding in C, C++, C# or Java. In cloud computing, programming like HTML5 and JavaScript will be helpful.

However, only coding will not do. There are a lot of coders present out there. The difference will be a continuous upgrade of knowledge in respective fields.

Do choose what you want to do and know it completely. Become through in it. Know every aspect of that field.

For cyber-security, one should know the in and out of networking and hacking because it is the hackers who create a lot of problems.

Because in the technology field, the only thing that remains constant is change.
